Welcome to Madame Jennifer Distillery. We are Inger & Ian who originally trained as a biologist and chemist and are putting our science skills to new uses.
Inspired by a book on craft distilling and a trip to the oldest distillery in Amsterdam (yes that’s us in the picture riding bikes while taking selfies in The Netherlands) we wondered if it was possible to create a small distillery of our own.
After more reading, a short course on distilling and of course lots of tasting we found a small industrial space for rent hidden away in a backstreet in Poets Corner, Hove.
As experimenters, foodies and lovers of most things quaffable we wanted to produce spirits using a wide variety of different botanicals and distilling techniques. Our small 50 litre still means we can to produce a range of craft spirits with distinction.
We distill, macerate and vapour infuse botanicals in different ways to carefully hand craft our spirits. As well as bottling and labelling each bottle in our urban location in Hove.
In 1736 the Gin Act made selling gin prohibitively expensive and mourning processions mocked the death of ‘Madame Geneva’. As gin once again rises in popularity we named our distillery ‘Madame Jennifer’ to toast the gin renaissance.
